Location Notification
My Posts
KaZuum uses locations to provide its users with information about what's going on their area.
Your location can be as specific or general as you would like it, and you can always modify and change your locations in your Profile.
Email Verification
In this digital age, it's pretty darn easy to create a ton of fake email accounts and use them to overload a website with unwanted (and potentially dangerous) spam.
By verifying your email address, it's a small effort that helps our users determine if you're a real person or not. It's not an absolute test, but it's a baby step
and when taken in concert with other things we're doing, a useful measure.

Announcements are messages from the admins at KaZuum where we let you know about new features and respond to issues you may have been experiencing.
Post Watchlist
The post watchlist is where you can view your posts that you're currently keeping tabs on. You can add a post to this list anytime by clicking the "add to watchlist" or "add to favorites" buttons while viewing any post.
We keep track of the favorite posts in all of KaZuum and post the top 10 in the Top10 listing.
KaZuum FeedWe keep track of the favorite posts in all of KaZuum and post the top 10 in the Top10 listing.
The feed is where we help you track everything that's going on around you. It lets you know when a friend has created a post, updated their profile, or changed their picture.
If someone responds or comments on any of your postings, you'll also find that information here. We're always working on making this information more relevant and useful to you.
If your feed starts to get out of hand, or you just want to clear it, you can use the "clean up" and "clear all" buttons. "Clean up" removes all alerts that are over a day old, while "clear all" removes them all. Use responsibly.
You can change what displays in your feed in your Profile.

New Post
My KaZuum
Posts are the heart and soul of KaZuum--
they enable you to share information, offer things for sale, rant, rave, organize events, all within the confines of your social network or friend groups.
There are 9 post types on KaZuum - services, wanteds, stuff, barters, activities, rents, soapboxes, employment, and resumes.
With all posts you can create groups or simply use the ones we've created already to make sure only select people in your network receive your post information. You can also inform non-KaZuum users with the "share this post" links and email form.
Services involve things you can do either for free or for a price, they can be at a select location, or within a radius of that location. You can let people know your schedule for this service (e.g. M-F, Weekends, 9-5, 10pm-6am)
Wanted posts indicate that you want something - it can be a service, an item, or something in between (not sure what that really is). You can specify the time and place you would want to receive that want as well.
Stuff postings are for items. There are 3 subtypes in this genre - Auctions, Sale, and Free.
Auctions are time limited and run out after 7 days. You set a starting price and an incremental price, and users can create bids on this item until the post is either expired or you close it.
Sale items have a set price, allowing people to respond with their own price or a comment; you decide who is selected.
Free stuff helps keep our landfills empty, saves everyone a buck or two, and is a great way to help our friends or make new ones.
Bartering involves the exchange of stuff and services without any money being involved. Post what you want, with what you have in mind to trade for it and see who responds.
Activities allow you to invite your friends, groups, or friends of friends to events and outings. You can set the number of participants, tell people the time and place, and even remove people from the response list (not very nice, but sometimes you just gotta do it).
Rental posts can be anything you've got or anything you're looking for- just tell people what's available, and for how much. Find roommates, a buddy with a truck for a couple hours at IKEA, or a Ruby on Rails programmer for some ad-hoc consulting.
Soapboxes are announcements, discussions, questions, rants and raves that you can make amongst your friends. You can also use them as blogs, message boards, kazoos*, or pizza cutters*.
Employment posts are made by businesses or individuals with serious requirements for permanent employment (not slavery).
Resumes can be posted by people seeking employment.

Profile
KaZuum is all about friends, so we have a place where you can keep track of all of them.
This is the list of all your friends on KaZuum, listed by name, status, last activity, groups they belong to, and actions.
Actions include:
(x)- removing a friend from your friend list
(+)- sorting a friend to a new private group
(k)- not sure what to do with k yet.
(b)- banning a not so nice friend from ever seeing your posts again.
Pending Friends are users on KaZuum who have requested your friendship and addition to their social network. You can either ignore, message, or accept them.
The Friend Finder is uncoded, but wil probably let you search for friends in your area, by name, email address, or interest.

Groups help you manage your friends list - not all friends are interested in your car posts, not all friends want to know about your problems with your cubical neighbor's B.O. (sorry James). Use groups to split them up and provide more relevant information (and save yourself embarassment).
This is the list of all your groups on KaZuum, listed by name, number of members (size), and actions. There are two types of groups - private (only visible to you) and public (visible and joinable by others).
Actions include:
(x)- dissolving a group you own
(E)- editing stats on a group you own
(b)- banning a group of friends. I'll probably take this out.
You can add new groups here with the nifty form. Give your group a name and description, an optional location, and a category.
Pending Invitations are requests you have to join groups, or requests by other users to join a group that you own.
The Group Finder is uncoded, but will let you search for groups based on name, location, keyword in description or category.

This is where you can manage your Alerts Feed.
There are two options to managing your feed - managed, with the rules set on this page, and unmanaged, which means showing all the alerts that are available to you (drinking from a fire hose).
You can specify how many alerts you want in your feed with "number of alerts to display".
And for each type of alert, you can specify your interest-
Never- means you will never see these alerts in your feed.
Hardly- these are not deleted, but will have lowest priority of display in your feed.
Sometimes- These are given preferential treatment to the "hardly" alerts, but not as important as "mostly"
Mostly- These will be shown if you have enough space in your feed after showing the "always" alerts.
Always- you will always see these alerts in your feed if you have enough space to display them.
These adjustments are on the fly - if you change these options, then go back and view your feed in Home, you will see it updated to your new conditions.
